Before you launch: a source-check checklist
A concise verification routine for closures, local rules, weather, equipment, and float plans.
Recheck the official record
Open the linked FWC record and managing-authority website. Look for closures, operating hours, construction, fees, permit requirements, and vessel restrictions.
Check current conditions
Review weather, tides where applicable, water levels, and local hazard notices shortly before departure. Conditions can change after a directory record was checked.
Share a float plan
Tell a responsible person where you are launching, your route, who is aboard, vessel details, and when to expect your return. Carry required safety equipment and current navigational information.
